Salesforce CRM is commonly used by sales and support teams to manage accounts, opportunities, and customer cases. Atlassian Jira is used by engineering teams to plan development work, track bugs, and manage product backlogs.

Salesforce – Jira Integration configuration with OpsHub

OpsHub Integration Manager (OIM) supports robust bidirectional integrations between systems such as Salesforce and Jira, ensuring high-fidelity data synchronization including comments, attachments, links, status updates, and more.

Prerequisites

  • Install OpsHub Integration Manager (OIM) on your machine.
  • Keep OpsHub login credentials ready.
  • Ensure prerequisites for each endpoint system (like Jira and Salesforce) are met to enable smooth connectivity.

Step 1: Configure Jira in OIM

  1. Log in to OpsHub Integration Manager.
  2. Navigate to Configure Systems, available through the plus (+) icon in the top-right menu.
  3. In the system type dropdown or search bar, enter “Jira” and select it.
  4. Provide necessary connection details for Jira, such as:
    • Base URL
    • Authentication credentials (username, API token)
    • Project details or context as required
  5. Save configuration to add Jira as a connected system.

Step 2: Configure Salesforce in OIM

  1. Repeat similar steps for Salesforce:
  2. Select Salesforce as the system type.
  3. Enter connection information such as:
    • Domain or instance URL
    • Username and password with security token
  4. Validate and save the Salesforce configuration.

Step 3: Set up entity mapping

After both systems are configured:

  1. In the Configure Systems screen, drag and drop Jira and Salesforce into the mapping canvas.
  2. Click Proceed to Mapping to open the Configure Mappings page.
  3. On this page:
    • Select your project and entity types for each system (e.g., Jira “Issue” and Salesforce “Case”).
    • Choose fields to map between the two systems.
    • Enable additional features like comments, attachments, rich text fields, and define synchronization flow (unidirectional or bidirectional).
  4. Click Create Mapping to save your mapping configuration.

Step 4: Create the integration

Once mappings are defined, review the integration overview:

  1. Confirm project names and synchronization direction.
  2. Set polling interval for data synchronization. This depends on expected data update frequency.
  3. Click Save to finalize the setup.

Step 5: Activate the integration

  1. Use the Activate All option to turn the integration live.
  2. After activation, records will automatically synchronize between Jira and Salesforce as per your defined mappings.

Customer issues logged in Salesforce don’t seamlessly flow into Jira, forcing teams to manually transfer data and increasing the risk of delays and errors.
