Overview

Nexus Informatics, based in the United Kingdom and India, is a leading IT consultancy and cybersecurity solutions provider with a global presence. Leveraging over 25 years of industry expertise, the company specializes in network, wireless, and cybersecurity services, delivering tailored solutions to meet diverse client needs.

As part of its restructuring process, the company has been split into two separate entities – Nexus Informatics and Anovorx. This required the company to bifurcate all its work items between two organizations. This process required meticulous identification and migration of work items, while preserving all associated data, including comments, history, attachments, and dependencies. Preventing data overlap between the two new organizations was paramount, except in cases where shared dependencies were required. Also, given the substantial volume of data and the tight deadline of 15 days, Nexus Informatics needed a robust and efficient migration solution.

Challenges

The migration of 6 projects from Azure Devops Services to another Azure Devops Services as part of the company’s restructuring plan.
The task was to identify and bifurcate work items according to the two different organizations.
The migration of the work items shouldn’t affect any comments, attachments or dependencies relating to the work item.
Avoiding downtime or disruption to ongoing development activities.

OpsHub Migrator for Microsoft Azure Devops (OM4ADO)

Through research, the company discovered OpsHub Migrator for Microsoft Azure DevOps (OM4ADO), formerly known as OpsHub Azure DevOps Migrator (OADOM). OM4ADO played a key role in addressing their requirements and it enabled the team to comfortably meet their ambitious 15-day migration deadline.

A key benefit of using OM4ADO was its ability to maintain complete data fidelity during the migration. This ensured that all associated data, including comments, history, attachments, and dependencies, were accurately transferred to the respective new Azure DevOps Services organizations. Also, OM4ADO’s robust mapping feature enabled precise bifurcation of work items. This ensured that each organization received only the data relevant to them, eliminating unwanted overlap. This precise data separation was crucial for establishing the independence of the two new entities and preventing future confusion or conflicts.
